men's fashion: no.

I don't touch on men's fashion here much, mainly because a) this is not a fashion blog, b) I am not a man, and c) don't nobody curr. Well, except for when I'm showcasing some of Matt's finest moments, of course. Everyone cares about that. But otherwise, not so much.

But this morning on NPR I heard about something that caused me to rush to a Google image search as soon as I got to work. And then I had to laugh and laugh. It looked pretty bad in my head, and alas...it looks just as bad on the J.Crew models.

The shorts suit. How about we all just agree NO on that one.

Here's a thought. If a bunch of gorgeous, fashionable, trendy male models on J.Crew's website look like goofballs wearing something, it's safe to say that the average guy in your office or congregation is not going to look dapper wearing it

So in conclusion, let's all band together and make sure our menfolk continue sweating to death in regular old pants suits this summer. Just say no to shorts suits!

  1. It's not April Fools...this has to be a joke...this can't be true. No. No, no.

  2. While the "short suit" looks ridiculous I am a big fan of a long sleeve button down, shorts and loafers.

  3. That is like the mullet of outfits.

My favorite part of the picture you selected is the expression on the models' faces. The model on left is able to hide his disdain for the outfit by being rather expressionless, but the model on right's face is saying, "Really?!?" He wins for a more accurate portrayal of how most men I know would feel wearing that "suit."

  4. I think this can go in the same category as men's capris. Bad idea, really bad idea!

  5. Ha! I keep imagining Sam in this and it's hysterical! Matt would probably look J Crew modelish because he's thin and has skinny legs, so we'll give him a score of 2 on a scale of 1-10 in that suit. But big boys??? Dear Lord, just no. My eyes would be assaulted by the horror! What a terrible idea.

  6. Fortunately, my hubby is so conservative that he would never, ever accept these. I have a hard time trying to get him to wear anything other than a black suit and white shirt! :)

  7. Who on earth thought that was a good idea?!?!?!? I don't think your title has the word "no" in it enough. Yuck.

  8. It's so funny that you're posting about this today! We went to a wedding on Saturday and it was ridiculously hot and muggy (the joys of living in Mississippi!) I joked that brides get the option of buying dresses that have a removable train and turn into a short dress for the reception, grooms should have the same option with a suit that turns into shorts!

After seeing the pictures, however, I don't think it's such a good idea anymore.

  10. You know what this means: we're going to start seeing short suits (can we call them "shuits?") on the Bachelorette!

  11. Would have looked better with penny loafers! Um...NO!

  13. I feel like if they just swapped out the shoes for flip flops and got rid of the jackets and ties then they MIGHT look okay for a beach wedding or something...oh, who am I kidding, this is hideous.

  14. It seems to me that if you're trying to stay cool, you should lose the jacket first...not the bottom half of your pants.

  15. OMG, short suits?! Ew! For some reason that just reminds me of Bermuda... isn't that how business men dress there?? VERY interesting!

I love comments almost as much as I love Mexican food. Seriously.
