He would be the squinty-eyed fatty baby, by the way. Isn't he precious?! And he grew up to be a not-too-shabby-lookin' fella, if I do say so myself.
I'm pretty happy to call him mine.
And he's pretty happy to call this his:
Upon posting this picture on Instagram yesterday, Mollyanne commented that it was a very selfless gift for me to give (knowing, of course, that this kind of zillion-hour-long documentary isn't exactly my cup of reality-TV-loving tea). I had to confess that I am not that good of a person and did not even give him this long-coveted prize. That award has to go to his sister Amy and brother-in-law Tom...who probably thought it was a GREAT gift since THEY will not be the ones having to sit through 40 hours of WWII footage. Thanks. Kidding, though. I'm sure one day when I grow up and have appreciation for mature things, I will really enjoy watching it with him. But as of last night (when he watched the first episode), I have not reached that level of maturity, since I still found it to be an excruciatingly boring experience. Luckily, I love the soundtrack, so I don't mind having it on while I read or blog. I'm selfless in that way. Can you tell we only have one TV? And one room with couches to hang out in? Yeah. Also, in case you did not happen to be reading my blog in 2009 (which is apparently all of you save three brave commenters!), you might want to look back and see how we handled the Band of Brothers-watching conundrum the first time Matt embarked on watching this series. Personally, I think it was the very model of marital problem-solving techniques, and I wish we still had Netflix so that we could use this strategy again.
Anyway.
So birthday fun is the biggest part of our agenda today and this weekend (with SURPRISE BIRTHDAY ADVENTURE still on the docket for tomorrow!), but I would be remiss to not point out that today is the day that my bestie Amanda will give birth to her long-awaited, much-hoped for, and rather-stubborn-in-getting-conceived twins!!!!
Here we are in summer of 2011...both amazing but childless. We put the 'hope' filter on our picture to inspire us. Apparently it worked for her (or IVF did, one)! Needless to say, I am super duper excited (and jealous, let's be honest, but I'll get over it) to see pictures of sweet Colby and Clara today as soon as they are born (and hopefully AFTER they wipe all that disgusting blood and stuff off of them, because I can really do without seeing that nastiness).
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!
Happy Birthday Matt and Happy Birth Day to Colby and Clara! Pretty special day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Matt, for sharing this special day with the twins! And thank you, Erika, for being happy for us and cheering us along in this journey... continuing to ask (ok, beg) God to give you the same outcome (preferably through a less expensive avenue, of course) :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the 5th birthday I know about that's today!! Happy Birthday Matt! I hope you guys have a great time celebrating. And yayyy amanda!! Boy-girl twins are pretty great but I'm a little bias :P
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo! Let the Birthday fun ensue! You are a better wife than I... we also only have 1 TV and if Andrew wanted to watch something that involved/long/boring, I would make him watch it on his laptop. In the other room. True story. Happy 30th Matt! Make sure to jot down some words of wisdom for Colby and Clara!
ReplyDeleteI totally recognized Matt in the baby picture. He has the exact same look on his face with less squinty eyes :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I saw Band of Brothers after watching all the commentary on every episode of every season of Friends and realizing Ross missed Monica and Chandler's engagement because he was filming BOB. Then I watched the whole mini-series and became totally hooked.
PS. Happiest of Happy Birthdays to Matt!
ReplyDeleteHa! Follow you both but had no idea you were real life bestie's! So funny! Happy Bday to Matt!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your hubby! I'll be 30 this year, too, and I'm secretly (well, maybe not-so-secretly now...) excited about it. Hope this next year brings him nothing but the best!
ReplyDeleteYaya! Birthdays are the best. He was an adorable little guy!:)
ReplyDeleteWoot woot for commenting since 2009! And I totally remember that set up. There has to be a way to work out a similar compromise this time around too, I think. Or maybe just an excuse to buy a 2nd tv?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Matt! I'm dying to hear how tomorrow's adventure pans out :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Matt! Can't wait to hear about how y'all celebrate!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Matt! Cute pic. I thought he was the older one at first! Haha!
ReplyDeleteColby & Clara are cute names!
Hope your hubby has a great birthday. My hubby's 30th is in a few weeks, so looking forward to hearing what fun things you did for Matt over the weekend :)
ReplyDeleteLove this baby pic! So cute!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to Matt! Oh my word, what an adorable little chubber he was! Hope you two get to have a fun weekend celebrating together!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all the birthday festivities!!
ReplyDeleteIf I am lucky enough to sneak a peak at Amanda's twins over the weekend,I will give them a little kiss for you!
Happy Birthday Matt! My husband watches band of brothers every labor day/memorial day/4th of july when they play it on TV. His parents do it too. I would guess I have seen it all, but just not straight through.
ReplyDeleteFYI, I do believe that Earth Fare has at least the Hazelnut flavor in addition to the other SO Coconut creamers...
