four things

Today's gonna be a jumble of unrelatedness. Consider yourself warned.

1. Our amazing journey with Juan Pablo has come to a bittersweet end. I'm mostly impressed with how he went from being the star of Juan-uary and beloved by all to the arch-nemesis of womankind and near the top of the America's Most Hated list. It was actually as amazing, dramatic, and never-before-seen as Chris Harrison promised it would be-- but it seems that not even CH was prepared for where this season would take us!! Anyone else think that the hostility between CH and JP was EXTREMELY PALPABLE in that room last night? Holy cow.

For the record, I hope Nikki kicks him to the curb and soon. Ugh. His attitude last night (and pretty much for the last month of the season) was insufferable. I wanted Clare and/or Nikki (and/or Chris, let's be honest) to slap him last night. Even though there was no slapping, I was still proud of how Clare handled herself both at the final rose ceremony and ATFR. Looks like homegirl got herself some counseling or something after she got home and realized that she deserves a lot better than that. Hopefully Nikki will be next.

Oh, and you know how my friends and I fill out pre-season brackets, guessing who'll make it through each episode and through the end of the season? They have to be entirely filled out before the season starts, so we make them based only on what info is available on ABC's webpage before the first episode airs (and no cheating or reading spoilers). Anyway. Based on their network-provided biographies this year, I'd picked Andi to win the whole season. My choice was primarily based on the fact that she's from Atlanta, she's a district attorney and therefore intelligent and driven, she's freaking gorgeous, and her favorite TV show is Scandal. That was all I needed to know to realize that she was a winner. Anyway. So I would like to argue that I actually called it. Sure, she didn't "win" Juan Pablo, but at this point we can all agree he's not much of a catch anyway. She won the honor of being the next Bachelorette and everyone in America loves her, so...let's just say I won, shall we?? Thank you, thank you...yes, I will be available for consultations with your March Madness brackets. For a small fee, of course.

2. Last night I bought and consumed some sushi (okay, California rolls. Closest I get to sushi.) from Trader Joe's.

Source (hahaha so I just Googled "Trader Joe's California Rolls" and found this picture, right? So I went to the original webpage so that I could site the source-- proper blogging etiquette. Well it turns out that this photo is from a girl's blog back in January. Right after she talked about the sushi, she talked about the new season of Bachelor and how much she was loving JP!!! Hahahaha it all comes full circle. Now I'm compelled to go check out her more recent posts and see if she came to her senses.)

Anyway. Back to the sushi. I knew it was a gamble...there's no way they made that stuff fresh. But it just looked really good and I was in the mood for sushi and I knew I wouldn't be cooking anything for dinner...so I took the risk.

And it was sooooo gooooood. And you know I don't endorse food very easily (hahahaha)...this was just delicious. I ate every single one of them and then felt really sad when they were gone. So anyway. If you need a cheap and easy sushi fix, I highly recommend these. Nom.

3. Speaking of things that are tasty...I made a few very minor tweaks to my morning coffee routine and IT CHANGED EVERYTHING.

I always have Starbucks (ground) coffee with almond milk in the morning. Normally I get the breakfast blend, though. And normally we get unsweetened regular almond milk (not vanilla). However, for whatever reason, we got slightly different things recently-- the Colombia blend and (unsweetened) vanilla milk. And PEOPLE. I kid you not. When you combine those two (with a tiny shake of Stevia...like...really tiny. I'll get four coffees out of that one packet) it tastes exactly like a Starbucks vanilla latte!!! Like, the kind you pay $5 for in the store. I don't know what kind of voodoo magic it is, but I'm not questioning it. My coffee went from a tasty (but slightly dull) necessity to freaking delicious, cry when it's gone. Obviously there's no foam or anything on top, but other than that...dead ringer. So...see ya later, breakfast blend! Come to mama, Colombia

4. The weather is amaaaaaazing this week!! Actually it's probably going to be less amazing starting tomorrow, but for today I shall embrace the high of 78 and my bare legs coming out to blind everyone.

I love these shoes. Even though in this picture they make my feet look like skis...I can't really blame them. My feet are basically skis. Let's just embrace that fact. 94% of the reason I love these shoes is that they are EXTREMELY CLICKY. Like...you can hear me a mile away if I'm walking on a hard floor. It's super awesome. I associate the sound of loud and clicky heels with Very Powerful Women. I'm sure that Olivia Pope's shoes click when she walks. People respect and fear a woman who can confidently walk with very loud shoes...or maybe it's just me? But anyway, these shoes make me sound like the boss when I'm walking around and it's my favorite thing ever. The other 6% of why I like them is that they're relatively comfortable and they have a fun (but low) wedge. I usually wear them with pants, but today I felt like they could handle a dress and naked legs. We shall see.

That's all I've got. Time to go read eight billion other people's thoughts about the finale last night! Have a great (and hopefully warm and sunny (sorry Canadian readers)) day!

  1. I feel I can intelligently comment on three out of these four things (as I don't ever watch the Bachelor, I KNOW). First, I am glad you tried the sushi! I do think it's relatively fresh, as I used it eat it all the time without issues. Second, you should definitely try chocolate almond milk in your coffee! I started doing that a while ago, and I LOOOOOOVE it. It's like a cheap, health(ier) mocha. Third, adorable shoes! And, I completely agree that loud clinks = powerful woman. I can't bring myself to wear flats to the office for this very reason.

  2. Cute outfiit! I am not yet ready to bare my ghost legs. I have no insight on the Bachelor, because everytime I turned to the show at home, my husband would say, "We aren't watching this." haha But, from the total 30 seconds that I watched this season, I'm going to agree that Juan Pablo was lame.

  3. I was so over Juan Pablo last night. Even during the finale on the last dates with the girls I couldn't stand him and I was hoping they would just leave him there, or say no to him. I can't believe that he just offered her the rose and nothing else...and that he still won't say that he loves her! The fact that he thinks they are going to live a private life is pretty interesting, I don't think that's how it works with the Bachelor. I'm super curious what the big surprise that didn't happen was going to be. I think there's not only tension between him and CH but also with all of the producers. They are happy to see him go and so am I. I can't wait for Andi, that's gonna be a great season!

Your dress is adorable! I'm jealous of your warm weather. It's still cardigans and scarves for me.

  4. YES YES YES to clicky shoes. My workplace has carpet, so there is no clicking. But at my last job, there was tile. I loved to click all over the place!

  5. I have the bachelor on the DVR waiting for me to watch so I am super glad you have a quick run down to catch me up. Thank you so much for the tip on the coffee I can't wait to try it!! Not sure if this will satisfy your need for foam but every once in a while I'll put some extra creamy Reddi Wip on top and it's perfect!!

  6. yikes! Now I have to figure out out to make your vanilla latte in my keurig...I'll have to be on the look out for the Colombian Starbucks! I am about to try to kick my artificial sweetner (or any sweetner actually) habit...I have given myself until I use up my last packet of Splenda then I am going cold turkey!

  7. I love clicky shoes! I actually only buy work shoes that click....I stand in the store walking back and forth until I'm confident they click ENOUGH to purchase. My husband has been known to abandon me when shoe shopping for work shoes because he's embarrassed and I take too long. All for the clickiness!

  8. Love your outfit and adore your shoes!!! Your feet look perfect...no worries, girl. Thinking I need a pair...off to shop :) I've never tried almond milk in my coffee. Yum!

  9. I love that you get so excited about mostly unsweetened coffee... I can't even get that excited about sweetened coffee with fun creamer flavors. Where's the whip cream? Where's the caramel drizzle?

I'm super impressed with your hair... looks lovely. I've been rocking headbands and buns for, oh I don't know, three months. And two days after daylight savings time... nope, not going to happen.

Unfortunately our streak of beautiful weekend weather is coming to an end so enjoy today and be prepared to rock the white legs for a few more weeks.

  10. Love the shoes and I'm not a heel kind of girl but I think I could wear those! BTW the temp here in Ottawa today is a lovely 3 C or 37 F. It may not be sunny but it is warm(er) and the snow we are expecting will come tomorrow so i will enjoy this lovely warm melting day for what it is.

  11. Love, love the shoes! Super jealous up here...we are expecting 6" of snow tomorrow!

  12. Juan Pablo is an ass. That is all. LOL and yes, i wish someone had slapped him. Now THAT would have been GREAT tv!

  13. I showed arms and legs during my run this weekend and I'm surprised I didn't blind any drivers and cause accidents... by the end of summer I should be 1 shade less paler!

I've got boots on today and only walking on tile! :P

  14. I have LOVED this weather recently! Can't comment on the Bachelor since I don't watch it, or sushi since I don't eat it, but I love those heels and dress! I totally agree, I (for some reason,) seem to have more respect for women who can walk in heels. I'm a total clutz in heels, so maybe it's just jealousy?

  15. I never comment, but you look super cute in that last pic!!

Also, I put my almond milk at the bottom of my cup and brew in to the cup (keurig) and it foams it up a little bit. I'm also thinking about investing $7 in a little hand held foamer, the only thing stopping me is that I'm pretty sure it will only work two or three times before it dies. It might be worth the gamble, because $7 is less than 3 trips to Starbucks...

  16. Ok - I'll give your coffee combo a shot as I have hated my coffee ever since going paleo. I try it with the almond milk (both kinds) and just can't make it work but maybe that is because I'm using coconut sugar. I have Stevia tomorrow. I'm gonna give it a shot and report back.

Congrats on the bare legs - it's as if you are in Arizona (where we bare leg it up all year long)!!

  17. Also, as I type comments on your page, I'm always thinking about punctuation and spelling. Second guessing myself. It's a bit of a rush.

  18. I also feel super successful when wearing clicky shoes! Like a real grown up or something. Unfortunately, I'm still wearing boots all the time and one of them makes a squelchy, squeaky noise with every step that drives me bonkers. But today, it's actually above freezing and stuff is melting! I'll ignore the fact that there's supposed to be a snow dump tomorrow and pretend clicky shoes are in the near future.

  19. I had no idea you watched The Bachelor last night... we should have texted throughout the show! Wait...

  20. Couldn't agree with you more about #1! I was uncomfortable watching it!! Poor Nikki is all I have to say!!

  21. Cute dress as well! Perfect to wear to work and feel pulled together.

  22. Vanilla almond milk is the best. Love it! And I love your outfit as well. Super cute. Please pass off some of your fashionista trendiness to me. Mmmmmmmk? thanks :)

  23. I love clicky shoes. I need more pairs of them. Also, we had a gorgeous day (gorgeous for Canadians, that is) so I wasn't too jealous. Today however is a different story...

  24. You can only wear Olivia Pope shoes if you are screaming at everyone, all the time, forever. "I AM NOT YOUR SHOW PONY!" or "I AM NOT A PRIZE TO BE WON!" I can see it.

I love comments almost as much as I love Mexican food. Seriously.
