confessions

It's been awhile since I've linked up with E for some Midweek Confessions...but now she has a super cute new button, so it seemed like the right thing to do for today. So here we go!

Confession #1:

Last night I had my first ever tennis lesson. Not sure if that's confession-worthy in and of itself (I have never had the patience to learn a sport with a billion rules and OMG WHO INVENTED THE WAY TENNIS IS SCORED??? Ridic.), but I had a lot of fun and I actually did a pretty good job (said my 'coach'), so we'll call it a win. But that's not the confession part. That's back story.

What was awesome was that since I was wearing running leggings (don't own a tennis skirt, major party foul), I had nowhere to store extra tennis balls. So I improvised and would stick two balls in the waistband of the back of my leggings, near the small of my back. I'm sure it looked ridiculous, but they stayed put and were handy when I needed them. However, since it was quite toasty and I was running around a lot, I got pretty sweaty...which means that the tennis balls also got quite sweaty.

Wanna take any guesses at how many times I cracked myself up as I self-narrated grabbing my sweaty balls out of my pants?

My confession is that I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy.

Confession #2:

We have absolutely no plans for the 4th of July tomorrow. None. Which honestly has not bothered me in the least, except for I sound lame whenever people ask 'so what're you doing for the Fourth?' and I have to admit I'm the least exciting person on the planet. But now it's pretty obvious that it's going to be pouring rain and storming all day long, and I must admit to feeling pretty proud.

See, everyone's plans are going to get cancelled. So no one's going to have anything to do for the Fourth. Just like me. So now instead of being a big slacker, I'm more like...the one who planned ahead. It's not that I'm lazy. It's that I just knew it was going to be a bad weather day, so I didn't waste time making plans I'd have to get sad about cancelling. Such foresight I have!!

Confession #3:

Everyone makes fun of all the guys on the Bachelorette and their never-ending wardrobes of bright colored v-neck t-shirts and hoodies. I think it's hilarious. I never knew there could be so many v-neck jokes, but every week Twitter and re-cap bloggers surprise me with new ones. I laugh every time and make fun right along.

This is from a few weeks ago, but LOOK! It's my favorite yellow shirt I talked about yesterday! Ha. AND CARLEY!
And then I prove myself a hypocrite every time because I just love love love ol' Mattie in a brightly hued v-neck. WOOOOO! He has two or three and wears them with a frequency because he knows how much I love them. You might think I'd feel a twinge of guilt living this duplicitous life of v-neck love/mockery, but I don't. I will mock v-necks on Bachelorette and embrace them on my husband all in the same day and I don't even lose sleep at night. Have I no soul? Hm.

That's about all the confessing my heart can handle today. Have a great day and a happy (rainy, plan-less) Fourth!

  1. No 4th of July plans either... the 4th seems kind of lame when you have to wake up and go to work the next morning... Fireworks don't happen until after my bedtime... yawn. Plus, this year is going to be particularly pathetic in GA... I do believe the monsoon will ruin everyone's plans. : (

  3. Hahaha! I would have been laughing along with you at the tennis court!

Way to plan ahead for the 4th! We are just going to my Mom's for lunch and then being lazy bums the rest of the day!

I like bright colors on my husband, too. I think he only owns white shirts in the v-neck variety, though!

  5. You should teach middle school! We all have the humor of a 12 year old boy. I'm pretty sure it's in the employee handbook.

Oh, and I wish my husband would wear a brightly colored v-neck. He only wears crew neck t-shirts, usually in a neutral color. Although he has branched out and got an orange and a green lately.

  6. I don't have any plans either! Someone at work was talking about the FIVE PARTIES she was invited to and how she couldn't decide whether to party hop or just stick with one. I was like yeah.. me too...

Not even sure if I can watch The Bachelorette and all the V-neck glory with Juan Pablo :(

  7. I love your confessions. Your tennis ball humor cracks me up. I hope the monsoon skips GA and that y'all can grill out or something 4th of July like.

  8. You are the funniest person I know! I love all these confessions, but especially the sweaty ball one. Reminds me of that old SNL skit with Alec Baldwin...

  9. I like this idea of this confession thing. I have no plans for tomorrow eve so far. My husband and I are going on an outing with my parents during the day to a town on the St. Croix River, but I am not sure I will be doing fireworks because I don't want to overexert myself after my transfer. Happy 4th of July!

  11. I will be watching four kids for the 4th! Fun times. (Of course it's not a holiday in Canada so there is that.)

  12. Sweaty balls are ALWAYS funny, no matter what age/gender you are.

Also, there is a BIG difference between the v-neck Matt is sporting and the ones showcased on the Bachelorette. For starters, his isn't so tight that we can see his nips. For another, the "v" is not deep enough to be cause for concern. I think he is rockin' it!

  13. I haven't had regular access to a computer in a while and the connection at the hospital was horrible but I did want to say that your posts have had me smiling and I've been following along (just not able to comment). I'll be back up and running soon but wanted to say thanks for making me smile ☺

  14. This is my first time visiting your blog! Confession #1 is hilarious.

Also, the only reason we even have 4th of July plans is because my husband insisted on doing something, but I'm a fireworks hater, so there's that. ;)

  18. Confession: I know the words to the national anthem, but I'm not quite sure I remember them in the right order.

Also, the first time I tried to comment, the "please prove you're not a robot" box was blank... so I might be a robot.

  21. My husband played tennis in college and loves it. He so badly wants to pass on this love but, like you, I do not understand how it's scored! He has explained it again and again and again and again with no progress whatsoever. I give up.

I love comments almost as much as I love Mexican food. Seriously.
