Well, obviously the whim was a wig so there wasn't a lot of commitment. But still. It was fun. I walked around my work and caused a lot of double-takes and laughter. That's what I'm here for, folks!
I texted Matt and picture of the new and improved me. Apparently he was a fan.
...annnnd now he's very disappointed, I guess.
I've never been adventurous with hair color. Or hair in general, I guess. I've had a variety of hairstyles/cuts over the years, some edgier than others, but I've never done anything with color. Some really subtle highlights/lowlights a time or two. But never any all-over color and DEFINITELY never anything as bold as platinum blonde.
...unlike my sister, who is a fan of both platinum blonde and extremely edgy haircuts, obviously. This was in 2007.
Since my sister and I look very much alike I've sometimes contemplated going blonde. She pulls it off really well (including less extreme versions of blonde...not just the platinum thing)...maybe I could too? Who knows. It seems like a huge leap for someone with color-virgin hair. While I contemplate it, maybe I'll stick with wearing that sweet wig a few hours a day. I mean...a mohawk on top of long, luscious locks? Very realistic.
HAWT. :-) Gotta say, I was glad you confirmed it was a wig. I always wanted to go red but it never quite worked out for me. Now I have a small wig collection for Halloween and other costume-y times of year. It's fun but I'm always glad to have the brunette waiting for me underneath. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou and your sister look a lot alike! I thought that was you! She looks awesome blind! Maybe you should go for some highlights or the ombré look!
ReplyDeleteI was born a blonde and always felt I should have been a red head. Green eyes and fair skin were the perfect match for pretty red locks. So, 15 years ago I took the plunge and have never looked back. Oh and for a hot second you scared me with that wig!!!
ReplyDeleteHa! Love the mullety (I know that's not really a word) top!! Major props to you for never doing the damage to your hair that I have done to mine with all of the highlights. Your hair looks really shiney and healthy :)
ReplyDeleteGirl, THAT IS RIDICULOUS! Why would they even make a wig like that?!?!? I swear I thought it was two different pieces... ridiculous! But you pulled it off well! I'm not a big fan of hair coloring myself... mostly because it's expensive and I'm cheap. But maybe sister could do a little coloring over the holidays... something fun but undrastic (not a word-don't hate)!
ReplyDeleteI think you could totally pull off some blonde locks. I have never dyed my hair but I think it would be super fun to change my hair color up and go for something other than mousy brown.
ReplyDeleteI think what really makes that hairstyle work for you is the mohawk, so if you're going to go blonde, you HAVE TO be willing to get that too!
ReplyDeleteI've always had super dark hair, I've never even had highlights. I decided it was time for a change and made an appointment to get a slight ombre look. I was all pumped up, and wasn't even going to back out, and then my cousin called and she was sick. She cancelled all her appointments for the day. Maybe I'm meant to never color my hair, who knows. It was part of my quarter life crisis, and let me tell you so far, I'm really failing at all of my crisis goals.
ReplyDeleteI love that wig! You could totally pull off blonde!
ReplyDeleteI think you'd look good as a blond! You should do it! Or maybe start with highlights, the gateway hair color technique.
ReplyDeleteI really want to go brunette. Or red. I say this all the time, but know I'll never do it because I don't have the guts.
You can always change it back...remind me to share with you pictures of my blonde days.
ReplyDeleteHaha..Love the wig! You look good as a blonde but might I suggest a different style ☺ LOL
ReplyDeletei am a huge fan of hair dye, though my current hair does not show that. that being said, your hair is the classic chocolate that kate middleton has to dye her hair to be, and why change a classic? seriously - your hair is enviable.
ReplyDeleteBusiness in the front, party in the back. Classic.
ReplyDeleteSo I highlighted my hair for the first time about 8 weeks ago. I went to a HAIR SCHOOL. It cost $20. And took 4.5 hours. Shoot me now. But it was kinda fun and the first thing I have EVER done to my crazy plain jet black hair. Now that the highlights are growing out not sure what I will do. Maybe look for a wig? :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha - you're too funny! I love blonde hair - but I do not like the cost of the upkeep!!
ReplyDeleteYou should totally just take the wig into your hairstylist and say "do this on me." I would support that!
ReplyDeleteha!! love it! I've never colored my hair either! You sure can pull off the light colored hair too ;)
