all about red

Sorry. I'd like to say something intelligent but I'm still laughing at the ridiculously amazing comment thread on yesterday's post. Who knew workout underwear was such a controversial and passion-filled topic? I'll definitely spend at least 20 times as much time stressing over my future undergarment choices, that's for sure, so...thanks?

It's Friday!! Yay!! I've declared today to be Red Day (because apparently I'm a preschooler who needs themed days?), so if you're reading this before you get dressed...it's not too late to join in. Here's how I'm celebrating the color red today:

Red (fleece-lined, woot!) tights. My mom gave me these for Christmas and I've had no idea what to wear them with, but today I just went for it. They are super cozy and I regret nothing so far.

To go with the red tights, I chose some...

Red lipstick, of course! It looks a little pink here-- trust me, that's just the awesome fluorescent lighting in my office. It's red. A bold choice for a Friday morning, perhaps, but...it's Red Day, so what could I really do? There are also red flowers on my gray scarf, in case you can't tell. I truly committed to the theme today, I tell ya.

And...that's the extent of my red. Oh well. BUT there's another exciting theme for this day!! Although...unless you work at home or for like...Google or something...(PS if you work for Google, please mail me some of your money. Thanks!) it may not be so easy for you to join me in embracing this theme.

Bring your doggie to work day!

Lola is still learning to perfect the art of the selfie, so cut her some slack. She's proudly sporting the new puffer jacket I nabbed on clearance yesterday, too! Pay no mind to the fact that it's HUGE on her. Poor thing. I read the list of breeds on the back of both the medium and large jackets and went with large...big mistake. Poor skinny thing. Oh well.

Despite her unenthused expression, I promise she LOVES coming to work with me. And I love having her here!

So that's my day. Red Day and Lola Comes to Work Day. After work we hit the road and head to North Carolina for the long weekend! Have a happy weekend...be sure to declare and observe a theme day of some sort-- it's fun, I promise!

  1. I'm observing the theme of "It's my husband's birthday so everything I do today will revolve around planning his party. Oh, and it's a PD Day so both kids get to come on all the errands." That's my theme! In your honour we will all wear read.

And Dave's work is dog-friendly so he often has random dogs coming up to him to say "Hi!" And we're pretty sure Google is dog-friendly too. I'll ask my friend who works there to come here and comment on that. (Yes, I have a friend who works at Google. No, we don't get to take advantage of his "piles of money!" In fact, between Dave and I we know about eight people who work at Google.)

  5. Your red tights are adorable and the fact that they are lined is AMAZING! And I'm crazy jealous of bring your dog to work day... except I'd bring my cat. Bringing Sterling would be the worst decision ever! Hope you have a wonderful long weekend!

  6. Omg that's awesome that you can bring her to work! I wish I could bring Chops. But then I remember she thinks shoes, wood and feet are chew toys and she's filled with a fiery energy that only a puppy can have.... And I realize it's for the best.

  7. I have a red phone - does that count as if I'm participating in Red Day?!?! I'm wearing boring brown and grey!

That's so fun Lola gets to come with you! Henry would be a good work doggy because he loves his sleep (old dog man) but Hunter and his 100 lbs self would probably scare people away...though actually that might be a good idea and I get more work done! :P

  8. I wish I would have read this before pulling clothes out of the closet this morning. I ended up w/ navy and gray stripes, not very bright :( I love your red lipstick! I could never pull that off but it looks great on you!! Lola is so cute too! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

  9. Lola is so pretty! Not sure Bauer could behave well enough at the hospital overnight (the kiddos would LOVE him though!) so he won't be able to participate.
Red looks glamorous on you. You've got great skin tone and hair color to wear a red. My reddish toned skin and red hair dislike most shades of red (or so I think).

  12. I love your tights!!!

I cannot even imagine having Enda in an office. She would piddle from excitement every time someone came to tell her "hi". In fact, I work from home and can't keep her in my office! Such a good girl, Lola!

  13. I always wanted to work somewhere per friendly. Too bad the hospital (or pretty much anywhere else a nurse would work) will never be that place. I think I'll join you in red day. Sans lipstick of course because I haven't learned that skill yet (but i know hope is on the horizon).

P.S. I don't think I've ever thought the phrase "poor skinny thing."

  16. I've got my red sweater on today! Up hear in Canada we observed wearing red on Fridays to show support for our troops. Oh and I wish I could bring my dog to work with me - how nice for you and your pup. Enjoy North Carolina - one of my most favorite states!

  17. I'm SO so jealous of the fact that you can bring Lola to work! I would loooove to be able to bring mine. They could be the office mascots! That'd be the best! Lola is one lucky lady. AND she's skinny? Some girls get all the luck.

  18. My co-workers and I have suggested that we have "bring your mom to work day" instead of bring your dog/child to work day... wouldn't it be entertaining to see what people's moms are like?!
