bye bye, snow. and january.

Well, our snow fun has ended. We headed back to work yesterday and life is pretty much back to its regular pace. For as beautiful as snow is when it's falling and covering everything like a white blanket...it's really depressing to watch it melt away and turn everything into a mud pit.

Here's the front of our house as we left this morning. Womp womp-- no fun. Snowball fights are never gonna happen in something as lame as that.

Speaking of which-- I may not have blogged yesterday, but I made up for it in an over-abundance of sharing on Facebook and Instagram. If you don't follow me on either of those places, then you don't know that I treated Matt to a most worthy SNOWINYO'FAAAAACE!!! sequel: I pelted him with a snowball while he was showering yesterday morning!! It was awesome. And he has yet to seek revenge for either of my snow-related attacks, so...that's pretty much exactly how I expected things to go. I prank him. He gets mad for 10 seconds and then forgets to ever seek retribution. The key to a great marriage.

Who needs marriage counseling when you have me? And I'm free!! Sheesh.

During our day and a half of snowcation we started two new shows on Netflix. On Tuesday night I decided to start Mad Men. I've heard many good things over the years but have never watched a single episode. So I watched three on Tuesday. But I'm gonna have to say...I didn't love it. Is that bad? It felt really slow. I kept getting bored and would look at the computer for a few minutes, then be slightly confused when I re-focused on the show...but then get bored again...and like, I didn't hate it, but it just didn't really draw me in. I turned it off easily and when I got up on Wednesday I didn't feel any compulsion to watch it again. Am I missing something? Have I dumbed myself down by a steady diet of reality TV and easy comedies? Oh well.

So Wednesday night I decided to try something else. Revenge popped up on my recommended list, so I said why not?

And THAT is what's up. Revenge? Are you kidding me??! That show sucked me in within the first 10 minutes. We blew through about 5 episodes that night (staying up waaaaaay too late for a work night, oops!) and another dozen few last night. Maybe I'm wasting my life, but I really love marathoning TV shows. And this one is so worth it. Any other fans out there? I'm only about 10 episodes in or so, but I can tell this is how I'm going to be spending my weekend. Emily Thorne, you complete me!!

So that you don't think I'm totally, 100% nothing but lazy, may I present to you my almost-complete January workout calendar:

So far in January we've worked out 18 times!! And we're going to the gym today, too, so make that 19 when all's said and done. I am so proud of myself!  Considering there were several obstacles to overcome (bronchitis at the beginning of the month, a long weekend traveling, being snowed in)...I think we did really good!! I wanted to get my money's worth out of our new gym membership, and I'd have to wholeheartedly say that we did this month.

Finally, a random screenshot of the funniest 'available wireless network' that popped up on my phone yesterday. I kindly bleeped out the most offensive words, but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to figure out what it said...

Sooo...yeah. It totally made me crack up. A house in my neighborhood has their wireless network named 'FBI SURVEILLANCE' and that makes me laugh every time too. Mine is something super boring, like a nondescript series of numbers and letters...and I don't really know how to change it...so I feel like I'm robbing my neighbors of the pleasure of easy entertainment. Sad situation, folks. I'm trying to get over it.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Way to go on working out so much! What app do you use to track that? I'd love to have a visual like that. Revenge is amazing, it's such a well written show with so many twists and turns it keeps you hooked. That will make for a fun weekend!

  3. I actually love both of those shows. But to me, Revenge is more like a guilty pleasure. A scripted show that is more similar to reality genre bc it's so surreal/fake. But I do enjoy the clever writing and plot twists. Mad Men is much more intellectual. You really do have to pay attention but it always made me think a lot. In a good way. But I didn't marathon it - I watched a couple epidodes a week for several months.

  4. I didn't love Mad Men either! Like you said, it just felt slow to me. But Revenge, oh goodness! I can't watch too many episodes at once because it really sucks me in and then I feel like the whole world is evil haha. I haven't finished the first season yet so maybe I should this weekend!

At school our neighbors wifi was hide yo kids hide yo wifi - always cracked me up!

  5. I need to get on the Revenge bandwagon. I like Mad Men. Last season was kind of boring but I love to hate and hate to love Don Drapper.

  6. Ryan is going out of town for a week in the near future and my goal is to binge-watch all of the Harry Potter movies and then watch all of the Revenges. I have this season on our DVR. I'm so excited to watch!

  7. I REALLY want to change my wireless name to FBI Surveillance. Yet I'm not smart enough to figure out how! I was stupid enough to have my friend and her tween meet the internet guy for me while I was at work, so they very kindly named my wireless for me. Their pick? Bunnies. (I have a deathly fear of bunnies. true story) they think they are funny. they are not!

  8. I think that's one of the reasons I knew I could never live in Utah forever - loved the snow in the first few days, but quickly grew depressed when it turned into mud and slush! Also, now I want to go change our network thing to something more interesting, with curse words, perhaps.

  9. I saw a meme the other day that called sitting and watching full seasons of a show on Netflix "Netflixing". I was like that with Orange is the New Black! I so need the next season to come out stat!

I love that wireless network! Too funny!

  11. I tried to like Mad Men, I really did, but I'm like you and started getting bored really quickly, so we haven't watched more than three episodes. Congratulations on kicking butt with the working out, that's awesome!

  14. Totally agree that Mad Men is way too slow. Might try Revenge based on your recommendation though. Have you tried Scandal?

  15. Score on the working out! That's motivating. Like Allison said, now I want to change my wireless network to something witty and creative but I've got nothing. Which is probably why I've never changed it before. Hmmm

  16. Way to go on the 19 gym visits! I bet the hip thrusting with balls is paying off already!! ;-)

  17. We have been marathoning Parks and Rec (for the millionth time) and we just started Northern Exposure. We don't have Netflix, but we did just get a fancy TV and Blue Ray player so we are able to stream our Amazon Prime to our TV now. I don;t know how we lived without it before.

  18. Props to you on the gym dedication! You have earned the Mexican food we will be eating together next week :) And your neighbors have inspired me to change our wireless network name… I'm thinking "YourMom" is a good/mature choice.

  19. I have heard about Revenge...but I can't convince myself to commit to it yet. Also, that wifi network name is awesome!

  20. You can add us to the We Have A Boring Wireless Network Name Anonymous group. Also, I have never heard of Revenge so I will have to check it out. We started a new series earlier this week and aren't all that into it either. It's very Canadian, so we'll give it a few more episodes before we decide whether we like it or not.

  21. LOL - our wifi is FBI Surveillance Van!

I love comments almost as much as I love Mexican food. Seriously.
