I feel like a broken record here, starting out half my posts this way, but seriously: thank you. started out pretty rough. But y'all were awesome and your support, prayers, and encouragement absolutely got me through a tough morning. I can't say thank you enough.

I would have called it a success if I merely survived the day, but I'm happy to report that towards the latter half of it, I actually really enjoyed it!! I would like to recommend the following three things as a great antidote to a day that otherwise may be sucky:

1) Plum Paper Designs planners. I am a huge fan of planners and use them obsessively, especially at work. My current planner is running out of months and I've taken to keeping elaborate post-it notes for 2014..."put this on Feb calendar when you get one!!"'s dumb. Anyway, my current work planner, while functional, is lacking in aesthetics and personality. So I decided to see if the cutesy, monogrammed online world of custom planners could meet my needs at a price pointy boss could get on board with. And I found success!! The perfect, highly customizable planner with the functionality and cuteness that I desire require! And the boss agreed and said to order away!! So it was a huge and exciting win and now I have the arduous task of choosing the cover design I want. Wish me luck.

2) Awesome friends. Our friends the Moores have been in town for a few days and we've been enjoying spending our after-work hours with them and the Gurleys. Heading over there for dinner (that I didn't have to cook) and drinks after work was exactly what the doctor ordered, in large part because we spent the (post-kids going to bed) hours playing...

3) Cards Against Humanity. Oh. My. Gosh. I actually almost DIED playing this game last night. That's how good it is. I was laughing SO hard and SO much that I seriously couldn't breathe sometimes. It was amazing. Even better- we got the game for free!! We hadn't planned ahead and ordered the game, but upon checking out the web page, we discovered that you can (legally) download and print the game cards for free!! So a printer cartridge and three pairs of scissors later, we had our very own game set! We felt so crafty. So anyway, if you have a highly warped sense of humor and some awesomely inappropriate friends on hand, I highly recommend you check out this game. If you are easily offended, I suggest you stay far, far away.

This trifecta of events no doubt contributed to my crashing into bed last night exhausted but happy, and for that I am thankful. Today is starting off fabulously with a pre-work coffee blog-date with Meghan that was fun and did NOT result in me being serial murdered (contrary to popular thought about meeting people from the internet), and tonight my parents are coming to town to visit, so that will be happy. Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Ha! I love when blog dates work out without serial killer issues! : )

Glad you're feeling better! I was hopeful that last night's dream was totally boring and filled with crystal blue waters and white sand beaches because I assume that you are not spending nearly enough of your waking hours thinking about it!

    Happy Friday!

  2. Nice work on getting CAH for free!! We can hardly print 1 PAGE properly on our piece of crap printer, so I suppose we won't be able to take advantage of the same deal. Glad you were able to though!

  3. So glad to hear your day ended on a happy note:)

  4. So glad that you ended up having a good day :) xo

  5. 1. YES!
    2. I need to invest.
    3. Yay!
    You're the bee's knees.

  6. we did the same thing! Our best friends were in town and we downloaded the game and cut up all the cards! And it is amazing! we call it "dirty apples to apples" because they are so similiar! That game makes you laugh - which feels realy good! have a great weekend!

  7. So glad your day ended well yesterday! That game sounds hilarious. I can even imagine playing with my siblings. Oh so fun! Sounds like you have a wonderful weekend ahead of you!

  8. Cards against humanity is the best invention ever. Don't you want to meet the people who write those questions. LOL. Perfect for a girls game night.

  9. CAH is so much fun. And so inappropriate. But so fun. I did not know you could get the game for free online though!

  10. I freaking LOVE that game! OMG so much fun. Been wanting to just bite the bullet and buy it, but it's like $50. Eesh.

I like your free print 'n' go option much better! Thanks for the tip.

Also glad you're feeling better. I've noticed that my saddest moments are followed by happier-than-normal minutes. My emotions trying to make up for being so cruel to me? Maybe. It's an emotional roller coaster, amirite?

  11. SO glad your day got better! And YAY for the planner! I love planners. Your boss lets you get a non-boring planner?! Amazing win!

And i have never heard of that game but i might have to check it out. I love games. :)

  12. CAH is so fun! I need to go to Kinko's to print my own copy.

** Side note: thinking of you after your last post.

  13. Yay for feeling a bit better! Time can kinda sorta help heal these hick-ups, thank God. And, seriously, if Cards Against Humanity can't do the trick, what can?!

  14. I'm all about an awesome day planner! Whoo hoo!!! You'll have to take lots of pictures to show it off to us :)

And I seriously need to get CAH. It sounds like so much fun and we have the perfect friends to play it with, which I think is a must.

I love comments almost as much as I love Mexican food. Seriously.
