fighting fatigue with gold jewelry and other nonsense

I'm tired this morning.

Last night was a late night. Just your typical, run-of-the-mill tired that results from finding an adorable stray puppy at 11:00 p.m., playing with him in the freezing cold for half an hour until you decide to bring him inside, playing inside for a few minutes until he suddenly and without warning starts spewing the foulest-smelling chunky vomit you've ever experienced in your life EVERYWHERE on your floors...over and over...while you and your husband panic and try to figure out how to get him out of the house, while simultaneously gagging over the disgusting and putrid fumes filling your house...and then trying to figure out how to care for the dog and keep him warm at night but also how to do that without subjecting your house to further episodes of Death Vomit. And then having to clean up your whole house, using every last towel you possess, and then having to immediately start laundry because the stench of the towels was more than your poor sensibilities could handle. Oh but also continuing to play with the aforementioned adorable (but pukey) puppy in the garage...while trying to figure out how to keep him off the streets and out of the cold overnight...and MAN that dog was cute...oh and then he puked on my robe. And my slippers. AND OH THE SMELL.

And this was concluding somewhere around midnight.

So today I'm tired. But sometimes cute puppies are worth it.

To combat the tiredness-- and the fact that this week is draaaaaaggggggging on and on-- I pulled out my favorite weapon: gold jewelry, and plenty of it.

I even resurrected a long-unused ear piercing (the cuff of my left ear)...because MORE GOLD JEWELRY. So between my five gold earrings, the gold studs on the collar of my shirt, my grandmother's gaudy gold cocktail ring, and some red lipstick for good measure...I think I'll survive the day.

Random other factoids you probably don't need to know but I'll tell you anyway:
-I'm up through Season 2, Episode 13 of Scandal. That show is ridiculously awesome and the only reason we're doing insane things like staying up til 11pm on a weekday in the first place.
-I discovered an awesome new blog yesterday: Brightest Bulb in the Box. It's a makeup blog, which I normally don't get really into, but this girl is hilarious. I almost totally disagree with her review of the Naked3 palette but I also don't care because she's funny and entitled to her opinion. And also she knows way more about makeup than I do, so I'm going to stick around and learn something.
-Buying gifts this year is insanely stressful for some reason. That's sad. I'm never a SUPER enthusiastic Christmas-present-shopper...I don't look forward to it all year or start shopping in June or something...but I don't normally dread it like this year. Oh well. Sorry everyone. Enjoy your gift cards...maybe I'll feel more inspired next year.
-I've gone on 3 runs with the new shoes now. I still hate running. I think next time I'm going to skip out on expensive shoes and just save up for liposuction instead.

  2. Cute jewelry! And I haven't read her review...but if she doesn't love Naked 3, then I whole heartedly disagree too. I'm loving mine!

  4. My friends and I have plotted about how I could marry a plastic surgeon so we could all age gracefully at the fraction of the price. If this plan pans out (it would be the first one ever, so don't bank on me, sister) I'll let you in on the discounted surgery action.

Also I love gold jewelry. I'm so over silver and white gold.

  5. So did you keep pukey homeless puppy? What does he look like? Details! lol.

I also had a pukey puppy except she wasn't homeless...she was mine. She puked on the bed at 10:30 pm...soaking a huge portion of the bottom of it. Then she puked in the hallway. Then she puked another 8 times in the kitchen by 11:20pm. We called the vet and he said she didn't have any other symptoms so he thinks she just ate something bad and just to watch her. But holy mother of God....talk about gross, and messy, and stinky. Blech. So I feel your pain.

  6. What no picture of the cute pukey puppy?!?!? I thought for sure we'd get to see this creature. I love gold jewelry!! My silver just doesn't seem to be doing the trick lately.

  7. Yes, like Amanda said above, need more info on the puppy! I hope he didn't give Lola any of his cooties. Also, I need to know if your long-unused ear piercing is hard to get earrings in after long periods of unuse? For some reason my ear piercings have gotten out of control in the last year or so and if I go more than like 1-2 days without wearing earrings, it's a fight to get them in. And I don't know why I'm going on about this, so I'll stop now.

  8. first off - your new running shoes are pretty darn cool. I like Brooks but can't run in them cause they squeeze my toes. I'm a Saucony fan. 2nd - did you keep they pukey dog? Oh and I would have lipo so fast! If only I had won the lotto. rats.

  9. I LOVE scandal. I finished season 1 and 2 on Netflix and now the hubs is super into it. Despite your super late night you still look awesome and put together ... so bravo to you for being a ASPCA super hero and fashionista. I totally think Santa will give you & Matt extra credit for the pukey puppy.

  11. Where do you get all your fun jewelry??? I am the type that loves the idea of lots of fun trendy jewelry and then I wear the same watch and earrings every. single. day.

Sorry about the vomit!! I'm sure the puppy was grateful to be puking in a warm house instead of outside in the cold. :)

  12. It's good to know that adorning myself with gold will help when I feel really tired. Off to buy more gold now! I think the only gold jewelry I own is my wedding ring and my (ridiculously small) gold hoop earrings.

  13. Ahhh! Pukey Puppy! Are you going to keep it???

My husband asked me what I want for Christmas and I answered laser hair removal and Botox! Haha!!! I'll be checking out that makeup blog...you know my L.O.V.E of all things makeup.

  22. What happened to the puppy?!?! Did you keep him?

  23. Props to you because dealing with your own dog's puke is gross enough, so dealing with a stray dog's puke must be even less pleasant!

  24. You’re very nice to save that puppy. Well I think no one can resist saving a puppy from the cold weather outside, right? Anyway, you have interesting random facts. And it’s good to see that one of it pursues being fit and healthy. Running is good but if you’re not fond of it, liposuction is also a viable option.
