the next thing

I've been occasionally wondering what my next 'thing' will be after we do our triathlon in August. As I've mentioned ad nauseum a few times, having this goal to work towards has been extremely motivating and fun in terms of getting me to enjoy working out again. Assuming the novelty doesn't wear off, I still have 2 whole months to enjoy my motivating workouts with a goal in mind. But what then? Once the tri is over, what will keep me going? I guess maybe if we really like it (and don't fail miserably), we could find another one to sign up for (maybe a full length tri!) and work towards. Or something else? But what?

I haven't known. Until last night, at the gym, when I saw this poster. And I knew.

The next thing.

I mean, obviously. Because nothing says sexy quite like...that. Just think of all the amazing photo shoots Matt and I could have if we were both scary ripped like those folks! Wow.

I mean...wow.

Question: if you noticed a friend started looking like that, would you stage an intervention? I kind of think you should. People should not look like that. It's unnecessary and frightening.

In conclusion, this is not going to be my next thing. I tried to keep a straight face and convince Matt that it was, but I failed miserably after about 4 seconds. Because seriously. Wow. People.

  1. Oh come on Erika. That should totes be your next thing! Because it is just that awesome. And also, it is drug free :) I mean seriously, it's a win-win situation. And just think of the blog posts you could write about it.

  2. But it's drug free AND it has the fish symbol on it... I believe you're required to do it a family of faith!

Bahh! You should at least immitate the photo and post it! That would be lots of fun!

  3. I hate to burst your bubble, but did you see the "drug free" disclaimer? Not sure you 'roid ragers could participate...

  4. Ha just read the other 2 comments... apparently we all zoned in on the drug free thing!

  5. I wouldn't be kind enough to stage an intervention; I would just conveniently edge them out of my life, like a true friend ;)

  6. GROSS!! And I think it would depend on how close I was with the friend. I can call my BFF's out on anything anyday, but not-so-close friends not-so-much! :)

  7. Yucky! I actually know 3 people in real life who train like that and I should stage an intervention, but I just block their fb posts instead. I don't want to see that crap while I'm trying to enjoy a bowl of ice cream! I will say this, if you were serious about body building like that, I would stage an intervention for you!

  9. There are a lot of reasons why you shouldn't do this. Rum based drinks jump into my head first. Your next thing should be a marathon. Just kidding. Those are stupid. Join crosfit and do the competitions on ESPN.

  13. Hahaha! I remember looking at vitamins in the grocery store with my sister when we were little and we saw people like that on some of the bottles...we both refused to take our Flinstone vitamins for like a month because we didn't want to look like THAT! Hahaha! Glad this isn't your next thing, but I am looking forward to your triathlon in August and whatever your next thing truly is :)

  14. A guy I went to high school with is now a professional body builder. He added me on Facebook and I didn't believe it was him. He's super scary looking now, but I'm not going to tell him that for fear he would rip me in half... And just when I thought he was scary, I saw a picture of his girl friend who is also a body builder. She is rather terrifying.

  17. Ha, ha. Don't be a hater. :) They don't really look that bad in person. It is all that orange self-tanner.

  18. I have a friend that has taken the fit thing a little too far. She posts every day what she is eating, how much she worked out and then really awkward pictures of her in a bikini.

I gawk sometimes and sometimes I just scroll really fast.

  19. As your friend, if I see you heading in this direction I will undermine your progress with daily suggestions for veggie reubens, chased by fraps, topped off with cake. Because I'm a good friend like that.

I love comments almost as much as I love Mexican food. Seriously.
